Learning enrichment and alternate programs (LEAP)

Casino High School is proud to have a thriving and dynamic support class program with 8 support classes and 1 tutorial class. These programs cater for approximately 85 students with complex needs and or disability.

What our LEAP centre offers

To best support students with an individualised program and pattern of study, classes are reduced in size (usually 7-10 students) and have a specialised teacher and student learning support officer (SLSO). Students can be working towards lifeskills outcomes or mainstream outcomes and have opportunities to attend mainstream subjects with support.

The LEAP centre boasts a beautiful playground area often tended to by the students themselves. Mainstream students are also welcomed to enjoy this space where appropriate. Senior LEAP students follow a strong transition program where they access opportunities for work experience, school to work programs, white card opportunities, support to gain their learner driver’s license and opportunities to connect with outside agencies. Students who are interested in hospitality can develop their barista skills working in the Black Swan Brew Café which runs every Tuesday and Thursday.

Each student receives their class offer via a formal district placement panel process.
