Principal's Report - Mr Neil Schneider

Principal's Report - Mr Neil Schneider.

Oh what a week for the Casino Community and Casino High School. The Beef Week event was an outstanding success for the town and the school. Highlights for Casino High School included First and Third place in the Carcase Competition Class 1, Third Place in the Hoof Competition Class 1, People's Choice Award for the Casino High School Year 11 Buskers, Zoe Drysdales' Highly Commended in the Open Section of the Beef Week Art Show, the Casi...no High School Stall and the Casino High School Float in the Parade. On behalf of the Casino High School community I would like to thank the sponsors and organisers of the Beef Week Event which gives us the opportunity to be part of such a great community. I would also like to thank all students and staff for their efforts in the different sections in which we were involved, however, of particular mention must be Chelsea Wenham and James Lang with our steer entries, Denise Crouch for her effort with our Street Stall, Karen Armstrong, Jennie King and Lorraine Vidler for the School Float and our student representatives assisting at Breakfast with the Butchers and Hospitality at the Rodeo. Our main hiccup was coming second in the Beef Week Challenge Cup and I would like to congratulate St Mary's Catholic College on winning for the third consecutive year. It was again a hard fought challenge with many fine and tough performances. I have attended St Mary's Assembly and presented the Cup BUT I emphasised that they have it on loan rather than a permanent basis. On a different note, staff are presently involved in the writing of the reports for Years 7, 9 and 11. High level outcomes for students are achieved when the school, home and wider community are all working together with a shared set of values. To achieve their personal best, students need to be well organised, have appropriate resources for each of their subjects and bring these for lessons. They also need a quiet study space at home, to take responsibility for their own learning, attend school every day, reflect on their performance and have a healthy school/life balance. In the classroom it is important for students to work with teachers and ask questions when something is not understood. The expectation at Casino High School is that behaviour is always at a high standard and that there can be no excuse for poor manners or disruptive behaviour.
